Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Masterchannel for?

Masterchannel is for artists and producers like you, no matter if you are a bedroom producer or a Grammy-winner. All of our users enjoy the same thing about Masterchannel: peace of mind that their tracks sound great everywhere. With Masterchannel, you can focus on producing great music instead of running around testing your tracks on different speakers all day. Don't take our word for it, see what our users have to say:

Why is Masterchannel special?

Masterchannel is the first mastering AI that delivers results as good as a mastering engineer. With Masterchannel, you can trust the sound of EVERY track you produce, anytime, anywhere.

Historically, mastering has been the domain of highly skilled engineers, who use their ears and specialized equipment to perfect the sound of a recording. However, with advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning, Masterchannel is now challenging the role of the human mastering engineer.

Masterchannel uses reinforcement learning to optimize the mastering process. This means that the system doesn’t just learn from patterns in a dataset, but rather learns by itself what makes a good master through the use of sophisticated reward functions. This is a significant departure from traditional deep learning, which relies heavily on existing data sets.

Another unique aspect of Masterchannel is the involvement of top musicians and producers in the development of the system. Celebrities use Masterchannel and have helped optimize the system to meet the needs of professionals. The Masterchannel AI therefore has credits most human engineers don’t have in their portfolio. The involvement of top industry professionals ensures that Masterchannel is capable of producing results that meet the highest standards of quality.

What can I use Masterchannel for?

With Masterchannel, you can trust the sound of EVERY track you produce, anytime, anywhere. It is perfect for achieving pro sound on:

  • Your songs before you release them
  • Demos before sending them off to a label or testing them on TikTok
  • Beats before selling them
  • Live tracks before playing them in front of your audience

The advantage of Masterchannel over a human mastering engineer is its ability to scale infinitely. The platform is capable of mastering many more tracks than a human and can help you iterate on your music more quickly. This means that you no longer need to wait to be prioritized by a human engineer or communicate with them, leaving you in charge of the entire creative process and allowing you to master as much music as you like.

Do you optimize loudness for Spotify?

In short: Yes.

It is a common misconception that -14 LUFS is the best loudness target for Spotify, since Spotify does not apply loudness normalization by default. This means that tracks mastered at -14 LUFS would sound too quiet compared to other commercial releases for most listeners.

The most prominent human mastering engineers currently aim for a loudness target of -12 to -9 LUFS depending on the music. This is what Masterchannel does as well.

We constantly monitor current market trends and norms. Please rest assured that Masterchannel masters will always meet the latest technical requirements across streaming platforms.

What resolutions do you support?

You can upload most common audio formats, but we encourage using a lossless format, such as WAV, AIFF, or FLAC.

Masterchannel delivers masters in industry standard WAV format with a sample rate of 44.1 kHz and a bit depth of 16 bits. If you require other resolutions, please let us know.
